Student Response

Intellectual Freedom

What if America wasn't the same? What if we as human beings didn't have the rights we deserve, for things such as getting books out of the library or even thinking? What if we didn't have intellectual freedom? Intellectual freedom is being able to think what we want to think hear what we wanna and watch what we want to watch. With the first amendment we get to express our points of views without having to watch what we think or do because of some law.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and the petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Living in America without this amendment would be as if you were puppet with strings. The government would be the puppet master. If you don't obey what the government says you would get tangled up. This gets tangled up in kids education libraries get involved. If we didn't have intellectual freedom the government would pick the books we read or even make us listen to the music they pick. Without this amendment we would have a limitation to explore the world.
