Intellectual Freedom
What if America wasn't the same? What if we as human beings didn't have the rights we deserve, for things such as getting books out of the library or even thinking? What if we didn't have intellectual freedom? Intellectual freedom is being able to think what we want to think hear what we wanna and watch what we want to watch. With the first amendment we get to express our points of views without having to watch what we think or do because of some law.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and the petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Living in America without this amendment would be as if you were puppet with strings. The government would be the puppet master. If you don't obey what the government says you would get tangled up. This gets tangled up in kids education libraries get involved. If we didn't have intellectual freedom the government would pick the books we read or even make us listen to the music they pick. Without this amendment we would have a limitation to explore the world.

Intellectual Freedom
Intellectual Freedom was the first amendment and is a law giving American citizens the right to read what we want to read, hear what we want to hear, watch what we want to watch, and think what we want to think. This is a very important law because we have the right to know what is going on and to be well informed with our time, and country and everything around us. People have all these ideas, for books, and websites, or television shows and many other things and without this freedom all these thoughts would go to waste. We have this because people want to and should share their ideas with who will and is allowed to listen to them.
I completely agree with this idea because not only does it give us the freedom to read, write, watch, hear and think what we want but also with this law we get the freedom to have our own opinions on these things. Other countries are told what they cannot read or see or hear and think. How can they form their own opinions with these laws? They can't. If they are taught these things, basically from birth, they will grow up thinking like everyone around them, and even if they don't think the same what can they do about it? Nothing! I like these freedoms and they may not seem like much to us because we have known them and grown up with these freedoms, but this is a very good law for our country, compared to the laws about freedoms in other countries.

Intellectual Freedom:
What is it?--Freedom is why we have privileges and being able to have the rights that America has. Things like freedom of speech and religion are examples of intellectual freedom. This is what intellectual freedom is.
Why do we have it?--We have intellectual freedom because the government wants people to enjoy life and be able to state an opinion on a certain countries faults, and in other countries, this is illegal and you could be placed in prison for stating a simple opinion on another country. We have intellectual freedom because we want to show other countries that you can have intellectual freedom and still have a good government.
How is it important:--Intellectual freedom is important because people need to have a say in what is going on in their country. People need this so they can be happy for the future of their country. People need to have the right to have a say in whether they like how this country is going and they need to have the freedom to choose what religion to believe in, whether it's Atheist to Christian.
My Personal Opinion: I think that Intellectual Freedom is the best thing about America. I think this because intellectual freedom gives you the rights and privileges that most other countries do not have. Intellectual freedom is what makes America better than most other countries. Us Americans are lucky to be living here because in some other countries there are laws against speaking out to what you believe in.
